Lane Assist and More Jesus (Part Two)

If you read my minivan & God story on March 12th, this is part two. And no, this is not just about my new car…. stay with me until the end and see how God gave me part two of my story.

I ended up getting a 2023 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum, which means it has dozens of safety features, including lane assist (read part 1 to understand, lol). It has auto-sensing wipers, that when engaged, senses when the windshield wipers are needed and automatically engages them. It has lane assist, which pulls you back inside the lines if you start to drift out. It has adaptive cruise control, which once it’s set, changes, and adapts as the speed limits change and when the car in front of you slows down. It has autobraking driving forward or backwards to prevent crashes and/or running over a pedestrian. It has cameras all over it and automatic high beams that switch off and on based on if there are car lights in front of you. Ok…. if you’re still reading, this is the good part.

I was driving home from the office today and had all those features engaged. I noticed that if I took my hands off the wheel, it would drive itself…. I could feel the steering wheel moving along with the stripes on the road. And then GOD.

He reminded me of how He is like all these features.

He knows when our view needs to be cleared or lit (wipers and high beams).

He will help guide us along the path He has for us, making sure to gently nudge us as we start to drift close to line (i.e., the world).

He will slow us down when there is something that could hinder us (adaptive cruise control).

And He will abruptly engage the breaks when we are about to hit a roadblock.

The catch?

We have to have Him engaged.

We have to give Him total control because He senses things we may not sense and sees things we may not see.

This was such a beautiful picture God drew for me and for you as well.

I have never had a car with all these features, but I have always had God with them.

Whether you’ve had or have these features to relate to or not, you do have God.

What is stopping you from engaging God’s safety features?

Fear? Anxiety? Control? Unbelief?

I pray that as you read this God speaks to your heart in a way that you will know it’s Him. I pray that I can come to the place where I can fully engage God’s safety features in my own life and that I can overcome my fears, anxieties, control issues and unbelief. I pray the same for you friend. I pray God meets you right where you are, and I have faith that He will. If He will seek out the woman at the well, in the middle of the day, who was actively living in sin and completely rejected by her community (John 4:1-42) and her own race of people, He will seek out anyone…even YOU.
