It's pretty rare that I am "still". I want to get dressed and go run errands so bad today but I am choosing to just "be still" and get in the presence of God. You may be wondering why.

Well, I want to reflect on all that God has done over the last year. If we're not careful, we can end up taking for granted the things we prayed so hard for that God answered. It's easy to remember an answered prayer from last week, but to stop and zoom out and reflect on the last year...that takes "be still" time.

If you're like me, you have so much to be thankful for. Sure, this year has been rough on a lot of people, financially, emotionally, loss of loved ones, etc. but when we reflect back, zoom out, we can see all that God has brought us through this year. Things that could have taken us out, we somehow found the strength/courage/peace to push through and not give up. We didn't do that alone, we did it with only what God can provide. He walked us through some dark valleys. He forgave us. He loved us. He comforted us. He strengthened us. He opened better doors. He closed doors that would have caused harm. He removed people who did not have our best interest at heart and he brought people who did.

For me, he showed me the true meaning of Christmas. This year it was more about Jesus and less about gifts. Yeah, gifts are good and make us happy for a moment, but the birth of Jesus changes our lives. His birth had a purpose. The gift he gave us is eternal life. He gave us a hope and future. He gave us power and a sound mind. He gave us a peace that passes all undestanding. He was the visible face of an invisible God. He came to set us apart. He came to redeem. He came to cleanse. He came to break generational curses. He came to set captives free. He came to show us grace and forgiveness. He came to be a father to the fatherless. He came to endure pain and suffering so that we have an example of how to get through everything we'll go through. He came to shed his blood to cover ALL of our sins so we can be made right with God and have eternal life.

And for me, he told me to "feed my lambs". And so as I reflect back on this last year, and look to the new year "feed my lambs" is the word I take with me. It is the word that has changed my life. Feed my lambs can mean so much. So if you're wondering what God may have for you...start by feeding his lambs. 🐑❤️✝️🙏

And if you don't know God yet, I encourage you to invite him into your life with this prayer:

"Dear Lord, I come before you with a humble heart, acknowledging my sins and the need for your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins and rose again, offering me salvation. I repent of my sins and invite Jesus into my life to be my Lord and Savior. Thank you for your grace, mercy, and love. In Jesus' name, I pray, Amen."
