Love Wins, Not Hate

As I scroll through social media today all I see is hate & division over what happened at the Olympics. My heart hurts because Jesus is love not hate, peace not division. And as I sit and think about Him and this, I am reminded of the verse as he was being hung on the cross after being stripped, beaten, mocked, spit on, etc. He prayed for them and asked for forgiveness on their behalf.
And I get it, He said "they know not what they do" & people can argue both ways for what happened at the Olympics. But we don't know their hearts. We can't see what is actually inside there. We can't see any work the Lord is doing because he works from the heart out. So it goes back to Jesus being our example. Forgiving the very people who mocked Him on the cross.
The devil wins when he can get beliveers to turn to hate rather love, which Jesus left us as the greatest commandment.
My heart hurts for my best friend Jesus, but also for all of his sheep...even the lost ones he actively leaves the ninety nine to find.
Hate doesn't win hearts to Jesus. Love does though. You don't have to agree with someone's actions but to feed them hate and poison from your mouths isn't the way to be. That's not how I understand Christianity to be.
And thank God we can't see inside everyone's "perfect" lives to see all of the hidden sins no one sees. The ones Jesus forgives over and over again. The ones not on display for the whole world to see. Sin is sin. And it's all equal in God's eyes. I pray for grace and mercy and forgiveness for all of it. Lord, let your love prevail.

Luke 23:34-38 TPT
[34] While they were nailing Jesus to the cross, he prayed over and over, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they’re doing.” The soldiers, after they crucified him, gambled over his clothing.
[35] A great crowd gathered to watch what was happening. The religious leaders sneered at Jesus and mocked him, saying, “Look at this man! What kind of ‘chosen Messiah’ is this? He pretended to save others, but he can’t even save himself!”
[36] The soldiers joined in the mockery, offering Jesus a drink of vinegar.
[37-38] Over Jesus’ head on the cross was written an inscription in Greek, Latin, and Aramaic: “This man is the king of all the Jews.” And all the soldiers laughed and scoffed at him, saying, “Hey! If you’re the king of Jews, why don’t you save yourself?”

Matthew 22:36-40 NLT
[36] “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?” [37] Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ [38] This is the first and greatest commandment. [39] A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ [40] The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”
