A sweet friend shared this devotional in our friend chat last night. I didn't have time until just now to read through, but what freedom is found on the pages of this book this morning. It definitely reminded me of the story of Mary and Martha...busy Martha. Doing all she could to serve Jesus in her home, but being so busy she was missing out being in the actual presence of Jesus. She was even angry at her sister for sitting at his feet clinging to every word he spoke.
Man, this story, this devotional rings true for my life too, lately. So caught up in the ministry and life that I found little time or energy to actually sit at the feet of Jesus and just enjoy being in His presence with no agenda or task list to achieve.
Don't get me wrong....I've had my worship music on, I've been reading my bible, going to church...you know doing all the things I "should" be doing to be a good Chriatian. As I found late last night...I've been missing out on the one thing Jesus really wants me doing....being in relationship with him. He wants to be our best friend, our 2am call. He wants to hold us when we're hurting, celebrate with us when we're achieving, and guide us when we're messing up and lost.
He loves us no strings attached. He accepts us no strings attached.
I found myself caught in a cycle of trying to earn his love and acceptance by doing. Why? Well, I grew up having to do that at as a child. So fully accepting that God loves & accepts me with no strings attached has proven to be a rather difficult thing to understand. These last couple of days I hear God saying....I just want you. If you had NOTHING to offer me, I'd still love and want you. I love you Christi (or insert your name here). You are my child and I want you. My love is a gift that I paid a handsome price for but give freely to you.
Oh thank you Father for these breaking free revelations. Thank you for being so patient with me while I worked this out...being so stubborn, not coming to you much sooner. I love you so much, Lord. Please forgive me.

Luke 10:38-42 NLT
[38] As Jesus and the disciples continued on their way to Jerusalem, they came to a certain village where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. [39] Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he taught. [40] But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.” [41] But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! [42] There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”
